Temporarily Out of Stock

Trigger Systems specializes in aquarium sump manufacturing and are based here in the USA (Dallas, TX). All Trigger sumps come with a full top support brace which is made of a solid piece of material to prevent bowing over time from the humidity and water pressure. They also round the corners instead of squaring them which exponentially increases the strength of the corners.

  • Locking Filter Sock Holder
  • Dual platforms
  • Protein Skimmer section
  • Refugium section
Locking Filter Sock Holder
Filter socks snap and lock into the filter sock holders to secure the filter sock from falling out when it becomes clogged and needs to be cleaned or replaced. The 4” filter socks are 100 micron rating.

Dual Platforms
CRYSTAL SUMP models come with dual platforms in the space before the return section. The top platform comes with a foam block filter and the bottom one is open to use for several different filtration methods (bag of carbon, bio balls, rubble rock, etc.). This feature is on the SUMP models only.

Draw String Tabs
Tabs are located on the top support brace in front of the 1" bulkhead fittings which are included. The purpose of these tabs is to provide a location for tying off 7” diameter filter socks that have draw strings.

sump for 65 gallon

Pros: Quiet, sturdy design, just enough space for what you need

Cons: Pull the sock out if you use chamber 1 as a refugium. Sock will clog up and needs washing more frequently than usual. Sock does come off easily.

Really good sump kit, sturdy design. The only Con I can think of is with the refugium space. I originally went with the first chamber, but had issues with the sock, so I swapped the skimmer and the refugium around (skimmer bay 1, refugium bay 2). The con is that I get crap in my skimmer pump from time to time and have to clean it out. I would have preferred to do the standard refugium bay first, skimmer second. This is a minor annoyance and definitely not worth worrying about. Refugium is quiet as well, a small compartment towards the back can house a chemical bag if you use one.

Everybody says keep it simple. This sump is like that. Nice dimension, you can fit it in most stands.

Trigger Crystal Sump

Pros: Its a sump and does the basic job.

Cons: Sum does not include cover for filter sleevve compartmnet, poor single sponge filter provided creates many bubbles, cannot control operating water level in the sump.

Purchased this sump since it was the only model I could readily locate to fit my new 120 gallon reef tank cabinet. Disappointed that there is no top cover over the sleeve filter compartment to prevent splashing and salt creep. Had to purchase an acrylic sheet and fashion my own cover. This was important and seems like a basic item. Also, only a single sponge filter was provided and it creates many bubbles - a problem for the intake pump that I positioned in that compartment. Had to add a better quality sponge filter in the top and second, lower rack to capture sediment and reduce the bubbles.

Great sump

This was my first go at a sump for my 75 gal aquarium which I am moving to be a reef aquarium. Overall I wish I would have went with a larger model but this does exactly what it says and works great.

It's all clear acrylic and has really helped my aquarium overall. I will never have another aquarium without a sump.
