Limited Edition Sapphire Sump

Trigger Systems specializes in aquarium sump manufacturing and are based here in the USA (Dallas, TX). All Trigger sumps come with a full top support brace which is made of a solid piece of material to prevent bowing over time from the humidity and water pressure. They also round the corners instead of squaring them which exponentially increases the strength of the corners.

  • Interchangeable plates
  • Lid to prevent splashing
  • Adjustable water height
  • Self-adjusting foam block platform
  • Dual platforms
  • Protein skimmer section
  • Refugium section
  • Sapphire blue coloring to block light and prevent unwanted algae growth in other sections
Interchangeable Plates - Patent Pending
Each Sapphire sump comes with two plates that can be placed into Section 1:
  • Filter Sock Plate
  • Foam Block Plate
The filter sock plate is installed when the included 100 micron filter socks are desired.

The foam block plate is perforated with holes and comes with a foam sponge block filter. The foam block plate can be used when filter socks are not desired or in the case when the filter socks need to be changed or cleaned but replacements socks are not readily available but yet mechanical filtration is needed. In this case, simply remove the filter sock plate and install the perforated foam block plate and then place the included foam sponge block filter in place.

Adjustable Water Level
Water level in the sump is adjustable from 7” to 9.5” to accommodate for the water height requirements for different protein skimmers.

Self Adjusting Foam Block - Patent Pending
As the water level is adjusted by sliding the wall up and down, the foam block sponge filter and the perforated plate that it sits on will also move up and down automatically. This is important to maintain the correct location of the foam block sponge filter with respect to the sump water height.

Probe Holder
All Sapphire sumps come with a probe holder that can hold up to three probes. The two outside holes are 0.63” in diameter and the center hole is 0.8” in diameter to fit different sized probes.

Hose Holder
All Sapphire sumps also come with 4 holes in the top support brace for holding in place 1/4” OD tubing from reactors, dosing pumps, ATO, etc.

enables an effective refugium and greatly reduces maintenance

Pros: flexibility of possible layouts for Berlin or refugium style

Cons: maybe 1.5 " too tall.

Been up and running 4 months now after replacing 20 year old sump. Using middle chamber as refugium with Chaeto light. Almost all algae is out of main 90 gal tank, went from scraping glass 2-3 times a week down to a quick pass with Mag Float one a week. . Eshopps S 2004 skimmer a bit too short, added 1" PVC rings on bottom to elevate skimmer cup to drain over the edge of sump. .Vectra M2 in last chamber keeping flow moving. As others noted, great design and appearance.

Pros: Perfect size and looks good.

Cons: Needs 4 probe holders instead of 3. Also would love for them to add the connectors/tubes for dosing (like on the Triton sump)

Just received my new sump. Looks great. Very simple design. Packaged well and arrived perfect.

Awesome addition to your tank

Pros: Awesome looking and great built in features

Cons: 4 inch replacement filter socks don't fit correctly like the one that is supplied with the unit.

While I looked at several different sumps, this one by far was the best looking and had great functionailty. While I love having this piece I went to change out the filter socl after a heavy tank cleaning, the replacement one i bought, which was the same 4 inch filter does not fit the same. Now there is a small portion of the opening around one side of the sock letting the water bypass the filter. Honestly I will work aroubd it, but for $335 I wouldn't expect this issue, other than that, completely satisfied!

This is a pretty good sump

Pros: Everything - easy to work with - it's quiet

Cons: None really but could be easier to clean in one little area and filter sock fit could be better.

I bought one of these in July of 2016. So I have had it a little while. This sump is quiet. It gets even quieter when using flex tubing. After owning one for 2 years there are 2 areas I will mildly complain about. #1 The area inside the down spout where water is delivered to the sump from the tank. This area is difficult to clean. If you're not concerned with clean then this won't be an issue. #2 the filter sock fit. The receptacle where the filter sock is placed is not round, and can be a challenge to get the sock to fit just right while working under the cabinet. Over all I am very happy with this sump though. It is better than the old flex I had, and soo much more better than the DIY I attempted.
