Limited Edition Sapphire Sump

Trigger Systems specializes in aquarium sump manufacturing and are based here in the USA (Dallas, TX). All Trigger sumps come with a full top support brace which is made of a solid piece of material to prevent bowing over time from the humidity and water pressure. They also round the corners instead of squaring them which exponentially increases the strength of the corners.

  • Interchangeable plates
  • Lid to prevent splashing
  • Adjustable water height
  • Self-adjusting foam block platform
  • Dual platforms
  • Protein skimmer section
  • Refugium section
  • Sapphire blue coloring to block light and prevent unwanted algae growth in other sections
Interchangeable Plates - Patent Pending
Each Sapphire sump comes with two plates that can be placed into Section 1:
  • Filter Sock Plate
  • Foam Block Plate
The filter sock plate is installed when the included 100 micron filter socks are desired.

The foam block plate is perforated with holes and comes with a foam sponge block filter. The foam block plate can be used when filter socks are not desired or in the case when the filter socks need to be changed or cleaned but replacements socks are not readily available but yet mechanical filtration is needed. In this case, simply remove the filter sock plate and install the perforated foam block plate and then place the included foam sponge block filter in place.

Adjustable Water Level
Water level in the sump is adjustable from 7” to 9.5” to accommodate for the water height requirements for different protein skimmers.

Self Adjusting Foam Block - Patent Pending
As the water level is adjusted by sliding the wall up and down, the foam block sponge filter and the perforated plate that it sits on will also move up and down automatically. This is important to maintain the correct location of the foam block sponge filter with respect to the sump water height.

Probe Holder
All Sapphire sumps come with a probe holder that can hold up to three probes. The two outside holes are 0.63” in diameter and the center hole is 0.8” in diameter to fit different sized probes.

Hose Holder
All Sapphire sumps also come with 4 holes in the top support brace for holding in place 1/4” OD tubing from reactors, dosing pumps, ATO, etc.

Overall great sump

Pros: Plenty of room

Cons: Sock location

Overall is a great sump. It gives plenty of room to put a Omega 180i or Reef Octopus 150SSS skimmer in the skimmer area. I use it on a 120 gal tank and it gives me more than enough room to install 2 300w heaters. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the location of the socks. It sits behind were the skimmer will go and thus you have to either remove the cup of the skimmer or reach around the skimmer to get to the socks.

poor finish quality

Pros: looks nice FROM DISTANCE ONLY, transblue acrylic

Cons: fuge and sump areas a little small, POOR finish quality, horrible QC by manufacture before shipping out

just bought one of these from another seller which was shipped direct from trigger systems, and when it arrived i inspected it i saw router "chatter" marks and bubbles in the flame polishing. seller said this is "normal" dont know about anyone else but to me this is NOT finish quality i would expect from a $429 sump. sellers are of no help usually just want you to return it pay restock fee which is unacceptable in my opinion. of course contacting trigger systems is also a joke as you have to dig for contact info as they dont list it on their site but what you will find is trigger systems LLC, phone number and adress ( which FYI trigger systems worth 130k + a year is a residential adress in allen tx.

so to sumn up if you really what quality finish save money and avoid trigger systems products ( i recommend going eshopps as the finish quality is far superior to that of ts, or if he is still making and selling them mark from meleves reef. but i do NOT recommend trigger systems based on my experience with my recent purchase and the seller saying this is normal finish quality.

All around Great Sump.

Pros: Sturdy, seamless, adjustable water height

Cons: Little pricey

I have been running this sump for 8 months Trigger systems did a great job with this, perfect for 60- 200 gallon tanks. The inside space is great.

Amazing Sump!

I bought this sump about 2 months ago and I Love it. It was a little difficult to get the socks in and out to begin with, but it is a lot easier now when you learn to tip the acrylic piece with the socks then it comes out easy. Love the added water volume and has plenty of room for the Ecotech L1. Also the sump is extremely quiet, no splashing noise or gurgling. Thank you Trigger Systems and Marine Depot for the great Sump!
