Thanks for tuning in and welcome to another installment of the Marine Depot question and answer video series. Our question for this video comes from Facebook fan "Roger" who asked us "What is the best LED light under $300 for my Nano tank?"
Thanks for the question Roger! I am sure many other hobbyists have asked themselves this same question. Now that LED lights have flooded the market you do have quite a few options and narrowing this down can be a chore. Not to worry, Marine Depot is here to save the day! We have combed through our entire selection of Nano LED lights and came up with three lights that are going to give you the best bang for your buck.
First up, we have the Maxspect Nano Razor. This fixture is great thanks to a sleek design, easy mounting, and full control. It comes with a mounting arm for direct mounting right onto your aquarium. An on board digital controller will allow you to program custom timing schedules and dim the LEDs to your preference. The Nano Razor covers a reef tank up to 24" wide and 24" deep. The adjustable mounting arm allows you to easily raise and lower the fixture controlling the light spread.
Next up, is the Kessil A150W Led pendant. We chose this fixture based on the quality construction, substantial output and affordability. This light does not include any kind of dimming or control features but is available in 4 different color spectrums. What is lacks in control features, it does make up for in price and power. This little light is under $250 and can cover an aquarium 18" wide and penetrate up to 20" deep. A flexible tank mount is available separately or you can use any one of the many suspension kits available to hang the pendant over your aquarium.
Finally, we have the AquaIllumination Nano Super Blue fixture. This fixture is a great option for your nano tank because it offers an excellent color spectrum and some of the best control features available on the market today. Out of the box, the fixture will allow you to dim the different LED channels creating your own custom colors. In order to program custom timing schedules and weather effects, you have a couple of options. You can purchase the new AI controller which is sold separately or hook up the light fixture directly to your aquarium controller. Both the Neptune Systems APEX and Digital Aquatics Reefkeeper systems are compatible with the AI Nano using the appropriate modules. The AI Nano will cover a tank up to about 15" wide and maximum of 18" deep with the included mounting arm. You can also suspend the fixture higher to achieve a wider spread of light if you need to.
