Aquarium Themometers

An aquarium thermometer measures aquarium temperature. Most tropical fish benefit from a stable temperature, especially saltwater fish. Ideal temperature varies by species, but both freshwater aquarium temperature and saltwater aquarium temperature are typically set at 76-78*.

A glass aquarium thermometer is the most inexpensive option, and something every aquarist should have on hand. However, frisky fish can easily break a glass thermometer left in the aquarium. A digital aquarium thermometer may sit in or outside the fish tank, and usually has an attached temperature probe. Some digital thermometers have multiple probes to measure tank and sump (or for redundancy). If you use a digital thermometer, be sure it is a waterproof thermometer suited to aquarium use.
